WHY WAS LAB282 CREATED?

There is currently a lack of funding to help translate basic research in disease-related biological pathways into focused drug discovery programmes. LAB282 seeks to address this unmet need, to stimulate the formation of new companies to develop ground-breaking therapies and ultimately to generate patient benefit.

WHY CALL THIS NEW INITIATIVE LAB282?

282 is the Pantone code for the University’s signature colour – Oxford Blue – and the new partnership is intended to provide access to the lab resources to transform academic discoveries into new therapies.

HOW WILL LAB282 BE GOVERNED?

LAB282 will be governed by the Joint Steering Committee, which comprises representatives from each of the University, OUI, Evotec and OSI.

WHO MAKES DECISIONS ON WHAT PROJECTS ARE FUNDED?

The Joint Steering Committee will decide on which projects are to funded.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF AWARDS TO BE MADE EACH YEAR?

It is anticipated that no more than £250k per annum will be allocated to Small Scale Awards, but otherwise there is no limit to the number of awards to be made.

IS LAB282 A SEPARATE LEGAL ENTITY?

LAB282 is not a distinct legal entity – it is a partnership.
