A PARTNERSHIP CREATED TO IDENTIFY AND DEVELOP
NEW APPROACHES TO TREATING DISEASE
WHY WAS LAB282 CREATED?
There is currently a lack of funding to help translate basic research in disease-related biological pathways into focused drug discovery programmes. LAB282 seeks to address this unmet need, to stimulate the formation of new companies to develop ground-breaking therapies and ultimately to generate patient benefit.
WHY CALL THIS INITIATIVE LAB282?
282 is the Pantone code for the University’s signature colour – Oxford Blue. LAB282 is a partnership that provides access to the lab resources and industrial expertise to transform academic discoveries into new therapies.
HOW IS LAB282 GOVERNED?
LAB282 is governed by the Joint Steering Committee, which comprises representatives from each of the University, OUI, Evotec and OSI.
WHO MAKES DECISIONS ON WHAT PROJECTS ARE FUNDED?
The Joint Steering Committee decides on which projects are funded.
IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF AWARDS TO BE MADE EACH YEAR?
There is no fixed limit to the number of awards to be made per annum.
IS LAB282 A SEPARATE LEGAL ENTITY?
LAB282 is not a distinct legal entity – it is a partnership.
